Facades - Acrylic on 60 x 40 canvas

Facades

Acrylic on canvas 60×48

Along our journey we let ourselves and the world build such great facades. In the attempt to distract us, lead us away from the truth. All these facades are beautiful and unique and appear promising to our soul. But in the end they will all crumble, rust and wither away. Staying on the path of truth is our only option to a fulfilled life. Everything else is temporary.

First Light

First Light

Digital Canvas 36×24

There is daily birth of warm colors emerging at the break of dawn. Over casting the deep blues of the ocean along a sandy shoreline. First light is the attempt to capture the morning beauty right before the world wakes up completely.

Wrightsville Beach

Acrylic on canvas 36×24

A Sunrise view next to the first concreate pier in North Carolina, the Johnnie Mercers Fishing Pier. A sunrise morning sky and waves in thick impressionistic paint style created and sculplted with a palette knife.

Sunset Retreat

Digital canvas 36×36

A relaxing view of a sunset filter peaceful clouded skyline along a calming ocean and beach view. Layers of ocean blues hint at the ocean’s mysteries, inviting contemplation.

Sunset Shoreline

Digital Canvas 48×24

As the day ends the colors of the sunset dance across the sky reflecting across the ocean tide and along sun drenched beach. The tide of rich blues and greens never stops to rest as it crashes against the shoreline.

About the Artist

Fine artists like me search for a balance between polarities: between realism and abstraction, between classical and experimental techniques. My inventive approach to abstraction is by blending these traditional techniques with modernist styles. I have spent decades chasing a vision to capture the beauty of creation and light down on canvas. Constantly challenging myself to capture the moments around me with the people I love. My beautiful wife, two kids, along with a son and daughter-in-law, and so far two amazing grand kids.

I had every intention to be an artist when I attended the College of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan in pursuit of a fine art degree. Thanks to the technical side of my brain it resulted in a successful career in graphic design and art direction for some small agencies and now a large commercial direct mail print company. This design career and raising a family kind of put my love for acrylics on canvas on hold. Until recently, the opportunity to return to this love has opened the door to creating some beautiful pieces.

“Every brush stroke tells a story.”

A story of my experimentation, resilience, perseverance and the search to capture light. There is depth of emotions and experience behind every artwork. Resulting in a multi-layered personality that shines across the canvas.

My hopeful desire, just like any artist, is to give viewers a unique opportunity to contemplate and appreciate their surroundings, seeing them in a new and fresh way.
